Role Description This part-time Student Job (Fact Checker) role is a hybrid position based in New York, NY, with the flexibility to perform some tasks from home. In this role, the fact checker will verify data, claims, and rankings used in Plant-A Insights Group's research projects and publications, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to strict methodological standards. Daily tasks include cross-checking information against reliable sources, reviewing survey outputs and data sets, documenting verification steps, and flagging discrepancies for the research team. The fact checker will collaborate closely with researchers and data analysts, support quality assurance processes, and help maintain the integrity and credibility of rankings published with major media partners.

Qualifications

• Strong research and information verification skills, including the ability to locate and evaluate reliable sources.
• Attention to detail and accuracy, with the capacity to identify inconsistencies and data errors.
• Basic data literacy, including comfort working with spreadsheets, survey results, and online databases.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting findings and collaborating with team members.
• Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines in a part-time hybrid environment.
• Enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program in fields such as social sciences, economics, data science, journalism, or a related discipline is preferred.
