Dog Daycare Attendant Recurve K9  Scituate, MA

We run a structured dog daycare and boarding program , which means our days are about a lot more than putting dogs in a playgroup and watching them run around.

Our handlers learn the individual dogs in their care, supervise appropriate social groups, manage rotations and rest periods, provide enrichment, feed and medicate dogs when needed, maintain a clean and safe facility, and pay close attention to behavior, body language, health and changes that may indicate something isn't right.

And yes, there is also a lot of cleaning. And laundry. And poop. This is still a kennel. 

What we're looking for

We're looking for people who are:

• Dependable and consistently show up when scheduled

• Comfortable working with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities

• Able to stay calm and make good decisions in a busy environment

• Interested in learning more about dog behavior and handling

• Observant and able to notice subtle changes in a dog's behavior or physical condition

• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

• Physically capable of being on their feet, cleaning, bending, lifting, walking dogs and working indoors and outdoors

• Willing to jump in where needed rather than waiting to be told every single thing to do

Professional animal care experience is helpful but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Experience in dog daycare, boarding, veterinary medicine, shelters/rescue, dog walking, grooming, training or other professional animal care is especially valuable.

There are advancement opportunities as employees develop their handling and leadership skills.

Some weekends, nights, early mornings and holidays are required. 

Reliable transportation is also required. When you're responsible for live animals, being dependable matters.

What this job is and isn't:

If you're looking for a job where you sit on the floor and cuddle puppies all day, this probably isn't it.

If you genuinely enjoy dogs, want to understand them better, don't mind getting dirty, can work hard without constant supervision, and like the idea of developing real handling and behavior skills, you may fit in very well here.

We're looking for people who want to become good at this work , not simply people who love dogs.
