About the Company

Protego Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in San Diego, California, focused on developing first-in-class small-molecule therapeutics that target protein misfolding diseases. By restoring protein stability and function through novel pharmacological chaperones, Protego aims to transform the treatment of rare and systemic diseases with significant unmet medical need.

Protego's lead program is being developed for AL amyloidosis and builds upon the clinically validated pharmacological chaperone approach pioneered by our cofounders, Dr. Jeffery W. Kelly and Dr. Richard Labaudinière, whose work led to the discovery and development of tafamidis for transthyretin amyloidosis (ATTR).

About the Job

This role is for a field-based professional with scientific, clinical and therapeutic expertise. The Clinical Site Liaison is responsible for providing medical and scientific support for Protego’s clinical stage products in development.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with key clinical site personnel (such as principal investigators, sub investigators, study nurses, study coordinators) to build a well-informed and motivated clinical site base in support of clinical trial enrollment.
• Collaborates with the wider study team to provide accurate clinical trial information to the investigative sites.
• Collaborates with sites to understand barriers to clinical trial participation and develops pragmatic solutions to enable successful study execution, including providing input on study materials for sites and clinical trial participants.
• Maintains business and clinical knowledge of the treatment landscape, including current treatments strategies, current and future competitors, and new therapeutic developments.
• Collaborates with internal and external stakeholder to develop materials in support of providing focused and balanced clinical and scientific information to clinical sites that supports the appropriate use of or clinically differentiates Protego's products and support services.
• Participates in the education of clinical trial site professionals and patient advocacy groups through tailored presentations at site visits, investigator meetings, advisory boards to enhance current trial awareness.

Required Education, Experience, Skills, And Abilities

• At least 5 years’ experience as a Clinical Site Liaison or Medical Science Liaison pharmaceutical/biotech industry, including within a CRO organization.
• Advanced Clinical/Science Degree required (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, MSN, NP, PA, etc.). BSN with extensive clinical experience may be considered.
• Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
• Excellent project management ability
• Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Thorough knowledge of regulatory environment
• Strong leadership capabilities
• Ability to travel 50%

Salary Range: $185,000 - $215,000 a year

In addition to a competitive base salary ranging from $185,000 to $215,000 we offer stock options and a target bonus. Protego also provides a comprehensive benefits package for our employees and their families, which includes medical, dental, vision, and supplemental disability insurance. Relocation assistance may also be available.

Please note that the salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and internal equity.
