Job Summary:

The Anesthesia Technologist provides essential support to anesthesia care teams by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment, assisting with patient care during anesthesia, and ensuring the availability and proper functioning of specialized anesthesia devices. This role involves collaboration with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and other technologists to facilitate advanced surgical procedures and maintain high standards of patient safety and equipment readiness. Responsibilities:

• Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including preparation of anesthesia equipment and placement of monitors.
• Ensure cleanliness and availability of anesthesia equipment and supplies, including medications.
• Continuously communicate with anesthesia providers to meet their needs throughout the day.
• Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and central line catheter placements.
• Operate the cell-saver machine, track lab reports, and participate in complex surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgeries.
• Maintain anesthesia equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot sophisticated devices.
• Serve as key resource for specialized anesthesia equipment use and maintenance.
• Assist in developing and implementing in-service training programs for anesthesia technologists.
• Perform anesthesia equipment setup and testing, including infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, transport monitors, anesthesia machines, and fiberoptic bronchoscopes.
• Set up rooms and carts between cases and provide full service setup at the end of the day.
• Coordinate with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment, including out-of-OR procedures.
• Provide backup support to the shift supervisor as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technologist.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Four-year college education including related technical training, or two-year college education with technical training related to anesthesia technology.
• Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body.

Special Considerations:

• On-call and callback responsibilities including holidays and weekends as needed by the unit.
• Work involves supporting advanced surgical cases and may require readiness for urgent situations.

Scheduling:

• Day shift schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
• Shift assignments may include on-call and callback duties.
